How would you describe your first year of business school?
If I could choose three words that describe my first-year experience they would be: growth, intense, and invigorating. The whole first year was a stretch opportunity in every facet of my life – academically, professionally, and socially.
What do you love about Johnson most?
Cliché as it may sound, I would say I love the people the most. They are some of the brightest people I know and are always eager to lend a shoulder to lean on.
Where will you be doing your summer internship?
Deloitte Consulting
What drew you to this company?
Like they say, “iron sharpens iron.” I saw Deloitte as a place where I could be challenged intellectually and become a better professional by learning from all the amazing people around me.
What drew you towards consulting?
I am mostly drawn to consulting because of its problem-solving opportunities. I love the way consultants create solutions to really complex problems. During the fall semester, when I was still deciding what path I wanted to explore for my internship, I stumbled on a second-year student doing a case and I watched her turn a two-sentence problem into an entire page of possible solutions. Needless to say, I was mesmerized, and I wanted to learn how to think like that. Initially, I defined success as learning to solve problems like consultants do because I knew that skill would be valuable in any career. As a bonus, I was fortunate enough to get a consulting offer.
What are you most excited for with regards to your internship?
Getting to meet and work with the folks at Deloitte Austin!
Any other fun summer plans?
I look forward to completing a few races, spending quality time with my family, and BBQ-ing with friends on the lake!
